Towards Large Scale Deployment of Adaptive Mobile Learning

چکیده

The challenge facing the actual development of mobile learning lies in overcoming the limitations of mobile devices and wireless communication technologies while catering for learners individual needs. This challenge has raised an urgent need to investigate automated adaptivity in mobile learning. We describe an ongoing work to build an adaptive mobile learning environment that is interoperable with existing VLEs. The environment is adaptive in the sense that it relies on Bayesian networks to adapt content retrieval and display according to learner individual preferences, the limitations of their mobile devices and communication technologies used. The principles of the proposed design are justified and discussed along with sample snapshots from the prototype being developed.
